J&K Police bid farewell to Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi, GOC-in-C, Northern Command

Jammu, Feb 08: The Jammu and Kashmir Police bid a heartfelt farewell to Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi, PVSM, AVSM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command, at a ceremony held at Police Headquarters today.
The event, hosted by Director General of Police, J&K, Shri R.R Swain, saw the attendance of various dignitaries including Shri R.K. Goyal FC (ACS) Home Department J&K, Lt. Gen. Naveen Sachdeva, AVSM, SM, GOC 16 Corps, and ADsGP Shri S.J.M Gillani, Shri Vijay Kumar, and Shri Anand Jain, among others from both Police and Army.
In his address, Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi acknowledged the special relationship between the Police and Army, emphasizing the trust and cooperation that has led to significant successes in counter-terrorism operations. He expressed his confidence in the continued collaboration between the two forces for future achievements.
As Lieutenant General Dwivedi assumes his new role as the Vice Chief of Army Staff, he assured his continued support for the J&K Police.
Shri R.K Goyal FC (ACS), Home Department J&K, praised the outgoing General’s leadership qualities and commended the strong civil-military relations maintained during his tenure.
Director General of Police J&K, R.R Swain, expressed gratitude for Lieutenant General Dwivedi’s support and cooperation during his time in the region. He lauded the General’s exemplary service and highlighted his connection with the personnel, describing him as not only a professional soldier but also a compassionate human being.
The ceremony also witnessed the decoration of ADGP Jammu Zone Shri Anand Jain and IGP (POS) PHQ, B.S Tuti with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Disc for their outstanding services. Additionally, mementoes were exchanged as a symbol of the strong bond between the two organizations.
The J&K Police expressed their heartfelt appreciation for Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi’s contributions and wished him success in his future endeavors.
