Srinagar, Jun 18: The Committee on Petitions, Jammu and Kashmir Assembly on Wednesday held its first meeting at the Assembly complex here, which was presided over by the Chairman, Pirzada Farooq Ahmad Shah.
The meeting was attended by the members Mushtaq Guroo, Salman Sagar, Waheed Ur Rehman Para, Mian Mehar Ali, Vijay Kumar and Thakur Randhir Singh.
The chairman outlined the roles and responsibilities of committee members, expressing confidence in their ability to work collaboratively and contribute effectively to the Committee’s success. He emphasised the importance of coordination and teamwork in achieving the Committee’s objectives.
Shah assured that the committee will thoroughly examine every petition, pursuing each to its logical conclusion and ensuring prompt resolution of genuine public concerns. “The committee will also report to the House on specific complaints raised during evidence, recommending suitable remedial measures as necessary,” he said.
The chairman said the committee will function strictly within its mandated framework and will regularly meet to formulate and implement a course of action for the prompt resolution of petitions referred to it. He urged all the members to discharge their duties diligently and uphold the decorum and responsibilities entrusted to them. Shah called for seamless contribution from all members and concerned officers for the vibrant functioning of the Committee.
The members actively participated in the discussions, sharing their suggestions and feedback on various pertinent issues.
Earlier, Secretary, Legislative Assembly, Manoj Kumar Pandita, deliberated on various aspects regarding the functioning of the Committee.
