Srinagar, Dec 20: The Jammu and Kashmir government has sanctioned Rs. 3.04 crore under the Capex Budget 2024-25 for the purchase of eight new vehicles for the Chief Minister.
As per the Order, the funds will be used to purchase four Toyota Fortuner vehicles, which will be allocated for the Chief Minister’s use in Delhi, at an approximate cost of Rs. 34 lakh each. The remaining four vehicles, Toyota Fortuner 4 will be provided—two each for Jammu and Kashmir, with an approximate cost of Rs. 42 lakh each.
It said that the total expenditure for the purchase of these eight vehicles will be Rs. 304 lakh with the Director of State Motor Garages (SMG), J&K, has been authorized to utilise the funds for the purchase of these vehicles.
It also said that the approval comes with certain conditions, including that the funds should not remain idle and that no new driver posts will be created. The SMG is required to follow the e-tendering process and abide by the General Financial Rules (GFR) 2017, it added.
It further said that the funds cannot be reallocated for other purposes, and the utilization certificate (UC) for the advance drawal must be submitted by March 31, 2025.
The Director of SMG will also include this expenditure in the Revised Estimates for 2024-25, it said adding that the sanction has been made with the concurrence of the Finance Department.
