Jammu, Apr 13: Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, the Congress Party got the support of All India Kashmiri Hindu Forum (AIKHF), which merged with the grand old party on Saturday.
This was informed by the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President, Vikar Rasool Wani, during a press conference at the party headquarters here.
Wani said that Congress has been “gaining the support of the people of J&K with each passing day and will win all the seats of J&K in the Lok Sabha elections”.
He accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of misleading the people of the country and not fulfilling its promises. “There is strong resentment among the people and they will give BJP a befitting reply in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections,” he said.
“All tall promises of BJP proved to be a hoax,” Vikar said, adding, “The BJP has failed on the ground. The inflation in J&K is at an all-time high and the BJP has failed to give employment to the youth. Congress fights for the poor and people have been reposing their faith in the party.”
Congress will win all 5 seats of J&K and the Ladakh seat, he added.
Earlier, the JKPCC Chief welcomed AIKHF chairman Rattan Lal Bhan and other office bearers into the party fold.
The AIKHF was formed in 1998. “Hundreds of its members joining the Congress is a big boost for the party,” Wani said.
Vikar called on all Kashmiri Pandit organisations to join the party and accused the BJP-led Central government of “fooling” the community for the past 10 years.
On the occasion, Bhan said he decided to merge his outfit with the Congress as the former prime minister Manmohan Singh-led government had done a lot for Kashmiri Pandits.
