Jammu, Feb 01: The Union Government has roposed an allocation of ₹41,000.07 crore for Jammu and Kashmir in the 2025-26 Union Budget, a decrease from ₹42,277 crore allocated in the previous fiscal. For Ladakh, the government has earmarked ₹4,692.15 crore for the upcoming financial year.
Of the ₹41,000.07 crore allotted to Jammu and Kashmir, ₹40,619.30 crore is set aside as central assistance to bridge the region’s resource gap. The budget also includes ₹279 crore in grants for the Union Territory Disaster Response Fund and ₹101.77 crore for resource gap funding in infrastructure projects.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police, which falls under the Union Home Ministry’s administrative control, has been allocated ₹9,325.73 crore. This includes ₹8,897.72 crore for revenue expenditure and ₹428.01 crore for capital expenditure. Rs 279 crore has also been set aside for disaster response.
The budget, announced by the Union Finance Ministry on Saturday, shows no increase in central assistance for Jammu and Kashmir compared to the previous year.
For Ladakh, the Union Government has proposed ₹4,692.15 crore for the 2025-26 financial year. According to budget documents, ₹2,450 crore has been designated as revenue expenditure, while ₹2,242.15 crore is allocated for capital expenditure.
