Jammu Kashmir Music Artists Federation delegation meets LG Manoj Sinha

Srinagar, May 12, Jammu and Kashmir: A high-level meeting was convened on Sunday at Raj Bhawan Srinagar, where representatives of the Jammu Kashmir Music Artist Federation met with the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha. The meeting, chaired by LG Manoj Sinha, saw the participation of legendary top-grade artists from Kashmir.
During the meeting, the artists highlighted the dire circumstances facing the performing artist community in Kashmir and brought to light the significant issues concerning the cultural heritage of Jammu and Kashmir. The delegation, comprising Ustaad Ab. Rasshid Hafiz, Ustaad Waheed Jeelani, Ustaad Qaisar Nizami, Ustaad Mohd. Yaqoob Shaikh, Ustaad Gulzar Ahmad Ganai, and Ustaad Muneer Ahmad Mir, articulated the challenges faced by artists and emphasized the urgent need for intervention and support.
In response, LG Manoj Sinha assured the delegation of his commitment to addressing their concerns promptly. He took immediate action by directing the Secretary of Culture and the Secretary of Tourism to prioritize and resolve the issues raised by the artists. Furthermore, LG Sinha provided on-the-spot instructions to expedite the resolution process.
In response to demands from artists, LG sb. has assured that the fee structure will be revised by the J&K Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages by the first week of June 2024.
The artists expressed their gratitude to LG Manoj Sinha for his attentive and empathetic approach during the meeting. They appreciated his willingness to listen and take swift action to support the performing artist community of Jammu and Kashmir.
This meeting marks a significant step towards safeguarding the cultural heritage of the region and providing much-needed assistance to the talented artists of Jammu and Kashmir.
