Jammu, July 27: After a long wait, the OPD services would be started at the prestigious high-tech health institute AIIMS at Vijaypur in Jammu next week.
“The IPD services would also be started within two months,” Director, Jammu AIIMS, Shakti Gupta said during a press conference at AIIMS in Vijaypur.
Initially, the OPD services at Jammu AIIMS would start for 28 departments for which 9 counters have been readied and the cost of the OPD ticket would be Rs 10.
There are 2 AIIMS coming up in the Union Territory (UT) of J&K, one each in Jammu and Kashmir.
The 750-bedded AIIMS at Jammu was estimated to be completed with a cost of Rs 1661 cr however, the cost escalation has now gone upto Rs 1800 cr.
Before starting the OPD services, a trial run was conducted for around a month during which 200-300 patients were screened at Jammu AIIMS on a daily basis and feedback was sought both from the patients as well as the staff involved.
The Jammu AIIMS would be the first fully digitized hospital and will be the first hospital in J&K offering all services and information of the patients online. The training of the staff in this regard has been completed, the Director said.
Apart from OPD services, Radio imaging services like digital X-Ray, CT Scan, MRI, UltraSound, would also be started at Jammu AIIMS.
The beds for IPD services have been put in place and now equipment is being put in place.
