Srinagar, Aug 01: The Indian Society of Animal Production and Management (ISAPM), a prominent nationwide conglomerate of animal science professionals, researchers, and scholars, marked its foundation day at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K). Established on August 1, 1983, in Bhubaneshwar, Orissa, ISAPM’s foundation day is celebrated across veterinary institutions in India.
The Division of Livestock Production Management (LPM) at SKUAST-K’s Shuhama Campus commemorated the day with a National Animal Painting Competition and an Elocution Competition. The painting competition attracted participants from across the country, with Dr. Paval Rout from NDRI (Karnal) securing first place, Chanchal Pichoori from DUVASU-Mathura earning second place, and Shahran Dehlani from SKUAST-K taking third place. Additionally, ten students from various institutions received consolation prizes.
The elocution contest featured deliberations on the theme “Livestock Production Management, a mother discipline of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry.” Dr. Khetimo Semy Rengma and Dr. Arnab Jyoti Kalita, both students of the Division of LPM at SKUAST-K, were adjudged Winner and Runner-up respectively.
The celebration, held at the Division of LPM, Shuhama Campus, featured Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry (FVSc & AH), Prof. Shayib Kamil, as the Chief Guest. Other notable attendees included former Dean Prof. M.T Banday, Prof. Azmat Alam Khan, OSD to the Vice Chancellor of SKUAST-Kashmir, Dr. I.U Sheikh, Head of the Division of LPM, faculty members, and postgraduate research scholars.
Prof. Kamil highlighted the significance of the LPM discipline, referring to it as the cornerstone of Veterinary and Animal Sciences. The event underscored the achievements of the Division of LPM and the vital contributions of LPM professionals. The winners of the National Painting Competition were announced, and an e-book of animal paintings was released. The elocution contest winners were also felicitated.
