International Disability Day: Cricket match for persons with disabilities held at Shopian

Shopian, Dec 3: On the eve of ‘International Disability Day’, the Department of Social Welfare, Shopian in collaboration with District Administration Shopian on Saturday organised a cricket match for persons with disabilities at Sports Stadium Batpora, here. The match was held as a mark of respect for the contributions made by persons with disabilities to society and to keep them motivated to perform their best in life.
Inaugurated by District Social Welfare Officer, Shopian, Showkat Ahmad, the match was played between Apple Town Cricket Team and Cricket Team Pulwama with results favouring Apple Town Cricket Team, Shopian.
The winner and runner-up teams were awarded trophies and all the players were awarded with certificates and uniforms by District Social Welfare Officer, Shopian. The officials of the Social welfare Department, besides a large number of locals, were present on the occasion.
