Srinagar, July 06: Dr. Shahzad Aasim, India’s first music scientist and a renowned musicologist from Kashmir, is poised to create history by presenting his groundbreaking research paper titled “Music as Medicine” at the prestigious 2024 Joint Congress of the International Association of Music and Medicine (IAMM) in Berlin, Germany.
Scheduled from September 18-21, 2024, this esteemed platform will highlight Dr. Aasim’s revolutionary insights into the therapeutic potential of music, solidifying his status as a trailblazer in the field.
Born and raised in Sopore and currently residing in Srinagar, Dr. Aasim’s pioneering research offers profound implications for treating neurological and cognitive disorders, earning him widespread acclaim and accolades.
Having chosen music over traditional medicine, Dr. Aasim’s work promises to transform healthcare paradigms and inspire future generations of researchers and music therapists. His accomplishments underscore India’s leadership in music science research.
Dr. Aasim’s achievements are further underscored by his induction into prestigious international organizations such as the Society for Neuroscience, Washington D.C., USA; International Association of Music and Medicine (IAMM) Germany; Alzheimer’s Association, ISTAART Chicago USA; and the Indian Academy of Neurosciences India.
He is the founder of the Kashmir Advanced Scientific Research Centre (KASRC), supported by the Higher Education Department J&K at Cluster University Srinagar. Recognized by the Department of Science and Industrial Research (DSIR), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, KASRC leads scientific exploration and technological innovation in the region since its establishment in 2015.
Dr. Aasim’s vision and leadership have positioned KASRC as a hub for multidisciplinary research, addressing local challenges while contributing to global scientific advancements. His pioneering efforts in understanding the intersection of music, neuroscience, and acoustics have established KASRC as a beacon of scientific excellence and innovation in Kashmir.
