Srinagar, Aug 28: The Indira Gandhi National Open University’s (IGNOU) Regional Centre in Srinagar has successfully concluded a two-day project viva for students pursuing BA and MA degrees in Library Science and MSc in Dietetics and Food Service Management (DFSM). The viva, held from August 27-28, provided a platform for students to present their research work to evaluators.
Regional Director Dr. A.H. Rizvi, who interacted with the students, underscored the significance of original research and the practical application of their projects. He emphasized that the viva was not only a test but also a critical exercise in communicating their findings effectively.
Dr. Rizvi guided students through the key components of a strong research presentation, focusing on areas such as the introduction, methodology, objectives, and conclusions. He also stressed the importance of understanding both qualitative and quantitative research and provided clarity on how to differentiate between references and bibliographies.
The Director further advised students to anticipate questions from evaluators, rehearse their presentations, and ensure they present their work with confidence. He emphasized that the evaluation criteria would be based on the depth of research, originality, problem-solving approach, and the overall quality of the presentation.
In his concluding remarks, Dr. Rizvi encouraged students to see the viva as a stepping stone toward making meaningful contributions to their fields, noting that their work could significantly benefit various stakeholders and government bodies in the Kashmir Valley.
