Srinagar, Aug 30: National Conference (NC) General Ali Mohammad Sagar on Saturday raised concerns about the current hybrid model of governance in Jammu & Kashmir. He expressed apprehension regarding the limitations imposed on the elected government and stressed the need for full autonomy in governance. “A one-size-fits-all approach does not work in Jammu & Kashmir,” Sagar said, highlighting the unique geographical, political, and socio-economic challenges of the region. Sagar, who is the MLA from Khanyar, said an empowered, elected government is crucial for the effective governance of J&K.According to a party statement issued here, the NC leader expressed deep grief over the tragic loss of lives and property caused by the recent flash floods in the Jammu region and conveyed heartfelt sympathies to the affected families.He met several public and individual delegations at the Nawa-e-Subha headquarters here. He lauded the efforts of NC Vice President & Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and his cabinet colleagues for their “timely response” to the flood crisis. The NC General Secretary praised the “proactive measures” taken by the Omar-led government since its formation, acknowledging their quick and effective outreach to the affected areas. “The government’s timely intervention in providing relief to the flood victims has been commendable,” he said, appreciating the government’s efforts to mitigate the impact of the calamity.MLA Salman Ali Sagar Provincial President Women’s Wing Er Sabiya Qadri, District President Srinagar Peer Afaq, and several other prominent leaders were also present on the occasion.
