Srinagar, Oct 28: Three people were arrested after police on Friday busted a human trafficking racket in Budgam and rescued 14 non-local women including minors.
SSP Budgam Tahir Saleem told Rising Kashmir, “Acting upon information of human trafficking being operational in the district, a police team of police station Budgam raided a particular place in village Dulipora and rescued 14 women victims (including some minors) from the house of Shamim Ahmad Bhat son of, Ab Rehman Bhat residents of Dulipora Parthan and adjacent places.
The officer said, “Accordingly, Shamim Ahmad and the other two accused, namely Shagufta, wife of Bashir Ahmad Wani, and Asmat, wife of Shafiq Ahmad Wani, both residents of Dulipora Parthan  were arrested.”
During preliminary investigation, it has been found that the three accused persons are involved in human trafficking by means of procuring girls from different places and exploiting them in the district of Budgam and other parts of the valley, the officer said.
A case FIR number 370/2022 was filed under relevant sections of the law at police station Budgam.
Further investigation into the case is going on and more arrests are expected.

According to Police, the rescued human trafficking victims have been shifted to Nari Niketan Rehabilitation Centre Chadoora, and the process for their rehabilitation has been initiated.
The senior police officer said that they were investigating their origin and how they reached this spot.
He added that after proper investigation, things would become clear.
