Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday hailed the establishment of grid connectivity to Gurez as a historic milestone for valley, marking the first time since the country’s independence.
In a post on X, the LG Sinha said “It’s a historic day for Gurez! The introduction of Grid connectivity to this pristine valley after the country’s independence is a monumental step forward.”
He further elaborated, “The energizing of the 33/11kV Receiving Station today will benefit around 1500 consumers across various Panchayats. Efforts are underway to progressively connect all the villages in phases.”
Earlier, KPDCL also shared their excitement, mentioning, “We are thrilled to announce that Gurez now enjoys Grid connectivity with the successful charging of the 33kV Line and RSTN Dawar, overcoming challenging terrain.
This achievement signifies a significant milestone by bringing electricity to the only area in Kashmir that relied solely on DG sets.”
