Srinagar, March 08: Health Officials on Saturday reviewed health preparations for Khelo India Winter Games 2025, scheduled to be held in Gulmarg from March 9 to 12.
A joint meeting was held between Director of Health Services, Kashmir, Dr. Jehangir Bakshi, and Principal SKIMS MC&H Bemina, Dr. Fazl Q. Parray, was held to review health preparedness for the event.
An official statement of the DHSK said SKIMS Medical College & Hospital has been designated as a main referral hospital for the event shall handle mandated health emergencies and referrals from the venue during the games.
It said round-the-clock availability of specialists, along with necessary human resources, logistics, and equipment, during the games, was thoroughly discussed and deliberated.
The medical arrangements were meticulously planned to ensure that all health-related needs of participants, officials, and spectators are adequately addressed.
During the meeting, it was further emphasized that Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir and SKIMS MC&H Bemina will ensure effective coordination to provide comprehensive healthcare services, not only during the event but also in the future.
The statement said the partnership aims to enhance the delivery of medical care and streamline health service operations across the region.
On Feb 15, the District Administration Baramulla declared Gulmarg and Tangmarg as ‘Smoke-Free Tourist Areas’ during the winter games to promote public health, ensure a clean environment.
Earlier, the winter games at the ski resort were scheduled to be held from February 22 to 25, 2025. However, the event was postponed due to inadequate snow and the new dates were announced following the recent snowfall in the valley.
