Srinagar, Feb 04: Health Department Kashmir on Sunday sealed all three clinics of a “fake doctor” in Anantnag, Srinagar and Ganderbal on the directions of Secretary Health and Medical Education against fraudulent medical practices.
An official said in response to directives of Secretary Health and Medical Education, Dr. Syed Abid Rashid Shah, health officials took decisive action against fraudulent medical practices.
“It was uncovered that an individual, posing as a doctor, was operating in three different districts across the valley namely: Anantnag, Srinagar, and Ganderbal,” said spokesperson Directorate of Health Services Kashmir, Dr Mir Mushtaq.
Acting promptly on the Secretary’s orders, health authorities have sealed all three clinics in the three districts and initiated thorough inquiries in accordance with relevant laws.
He said that the proactive measures taken by the Health Department, particularly under the guidance of Secretary Health, have garnered widespread appreciation from the public.
“The news about the fake doctor was circulated on social media, prompting swift action to safeguard public health and maintain the integrity of medical professionals,” he said.
The Secretary Health has emphasized the importance of keeping a vigil on unscrupulous individuals tarnishing the image of the medical community and exploiting unsuspecting people.
“We are committed to uphold the highest standards in healthcare. Swift action against such malpractices is essential to protect the trust and well-being of our citizens,” the Secretary Health said, adding they are dedicated to maintaining the credibility of the medical profession.
The Health Department urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious medical practices to the authorities, ensuring a collective effort to preserve the integrity of the healthcare system.
On Saturday also, CMO Anantnag had issued an order and sealed the clinic after it came to their notice that the alleged fake doctor was practicing in Anantnag.
Meanwhile, to make the system transparent, the CMO has directed all Private Hospitals/Clinics of Anantnag district to furnish information of all the doctors practicing in their respective hospitals/clinics as per the devised proforma within three days.
