Handwara Police registers 29 NDPS Cases, arrests 61, seized Rs 31 Lakh Properties in 2024

In an effort to combat drug trafficking, Handwara Police has taken strict action against drug peddlers throughout 2024. Police registered 29 cases under the NDPS Act, leading to the arrest of 61 individuals involved in drug-related crimes. Out of these, 16 cases have been challaned, implicating 41 drug peddlers.

Sharing details, with Rising Kashmir, SSP Handwara Choudhary Mushtaq said the year witnessed recoveries, including 1.710 kilograms of charas, 454.75 grams of heroin, 465 grams of brown sugar, and 320 grams of crushed cannabis.

Additionally, six vehicles used in drug transportation, Rs 1,050 in cash, and one digital weighing machine were seized during the operations.

In a major move to dismantle the financial infrastructure of drug peddlers, police attached three properties, including a mini complex comprising four shops valued at Rs 10,50,831, 01 kanal and 08 marlas of land worth Rs 11,20,000, and a Chevrolet Tavera vehicle valued at Rs 8,90,000. Furthermore, 11 drug peddlers were detained under the PIT NDPS Act, emphasizing strict action against repeat offenders.

SSP Choudhary reiterated the police’s commitment to eradicating drug abuse from the PD and urged the public to support law enforcement by reporting drug-related activities.
