Srinagar, Dec 27: Chairman, Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) and former minister, Hakeem Yaseen on Wednesday urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to fill the vacant post of the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) Chairman, which has been lying vacant since last month. He expressed concern over the impact on the functioning of the JKPSC due to the vacant post, saying it leads to the postponement of several exams.
Yaseen in a statement said that the previous Chairman, Satish Chander, retired on November 19, 2023, after reaching the age of superannuation. “The delay in appointing a new chairman for the JKPSC has led to uncertainty regarding exams and the release of pending results. Exams for promotions in various departments that were scheduled for November, December, and January have been postponed,” he said.
The PDF Chairman urged the Lieutenant Governor to appoint a suitable person as the Chairman of the JKPSC at the earliest to ensure the timely conduct of exams and secure the future of aspirants.
