Bandipora,Feb 27: Prominent social and political activist Tawheed Sheikh has urged the government to take necessary measures to ensure a smooth and comfortable experience for the fasting population during the holy month of Ramadan.Stressing the importance of essential public services,Sheikh highlighted the need for market regulation, uninterrupted electricity and water supply, public Iftar arrangements, efficient medical aid and waste management to accommodate the needs of the people.

Sheikh pointed out that regular market inspections should be conducted to prevent hoarding and overpricing, ensuring that essential food items remain affordable and accessible to the public.

He also called for an uninterrupted power supply during Suhoor, Iftar and Taraweeh prayers with special attention to street lighting around mosques and public areas to ensure safe movement at night.

Addressing the need for public Iftar facilities, Sheikh urged the government to establish community Iftar stalls in mosques, hospitals and other key locations, along with clean drinking water provisions at markets, bus stands and religious places.

Furthermore,he stressed the importance of extended working hours for grocery stores, bakeries and essential services to accommodate the unique schedule of Ramadan.

Sheikh highlighted the need for strengthened medical facilities, stating that hospitals and emergency services should operate efficiently to handle potential health concerns such as dehydration and fatigue among fasting individuals.

On cleanliness,Sheikh reiterated the need for extra garbage collection and sanitation drives, particularly in markets and mosque surroundings, to maintain hygiene during the holy month.

With increased public movement during Ramadan,he urged the authorities to ensure smooth transportation and traffic management during peak prayer hours.

“If these steps are implemented effectively, they will significantly enhance the Ramadan experience for the people,” Sheikh stated, urging authorities to act swiftly to address these concerns.

The social and political activist also invited public input, asking people to highlight specific concerns or areas requiring urgent intervention.
