Kupwara, Mar 15: In view of persistent rains and snowfall, authorities in the Kupwara District have mandated the closure of all schools in various areas of the district until March 17, 2025.
The Deputy Commissioner of Kupwara said that due to the ongoing adverse weather conditions, the District Administration has opted to suspend classes in Machil, Keran, Budnambal, Kumkadi, Jumagund, and the higher regions of Karnah until the specified date.
This precautionary measure was implemented as the continuous precipitation in the plains and snowfall in elevated areas have hindered road access and heightened the risk of avalanches and landslides in susceptible locations.
Officials have also urged residents, especially those in mountainous regions, to refrain from non-essential travel and to adhere to safety guidelines provided by local authorities.
