Govt. Degree College Ramgarh today organized Diya Decoration Competition to mark the celebrations of eco-friendly Diwali under the aegis of ‘Swachh Diwali Shubh Diwali’. To bring out the creative talent of students and to celebrate the Festival of Lights in its true spirit, Eco Club, in collaboration with cultural committee, organized the whole event under the guidance and supervision of Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra, Principal of the College. The main objective of this competition was to invoke the cultural significance of Diwali with the journey of ‘Swachh Bharat’ by encouraging clean and eco-friendly celebrations and to explore the students’ imagination and creativity.

The students enthusiastically took part in the competition and came up with some very interesting ideas. Every piece was decorated in a unique and beautiful way. It was a sheer pleasure and a great experience for all the students who were the reasons for making the event a great success. They displayed their creativity by beautifully decorating earthen Diyas with colours and the works.

Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra briefed the students about the significance of earthen lamps. She further added that everybody should go for the artisan handmade earthenware and diyas for the decoration as this will not only help the environment but will also help the poor artisan families by propagating ‘Vocal for Local’.

The whole event was coordinated by Prof. Risha Kumari, convener, Eco Club. All the faculty members attended the event.
