Kisan melas and exhibitions are organised across the country to showcase new agricultural technologies and innovative farming practices to farmers and other stakeholders. Such programmes provide an opportunity for farmers to have face to face interaction with innovators, experts and scientists. Moreover quality farm inputs are available for farmers during these melas. In this way Kisan melas have great role in the dissemination of technologies and raise awareness among farmers.
In view of these, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Science and Technology of Kashmir is going to organize the 10th Kisan Mela scheduled to be held on February 22-23, 2025 at Main Campus Shalimar of SKUAST Kashmir. The theme of 10th SKUAST-K AgriTech Mela is “Prosperity through secondary and sustainable agriculture” and name Gongul has been given to mela to make it more relatable to the farming community and to resonate deeply with the local culture and traditions. This annual event will act as the gathering ground for farmers, agricultural experts and entrepreneurs to find innovations in farming and allied agricultural sectors.
This AgriTech Mela will highlight advanced agricultural technologies, seeds of improved varieties and modern farming practices. Interested can participate in live demonstrations, scientific interactions and visit various stalls set up by different units of University and agri-entrepreneurs. The event will also highlight sustainable farming practices, organic agriculture, and integrated farming systems.
In the previous years Kisan Melas Organized by SKUAST Kashmir have attracted huge gatherings, the public in general and the farmers in special. It provides great opportunity for farmers to get high quality seeds, planting material, advanced farming equipments and other agri-inputs.
This year mela will particularly showcase modern farming practices such as high density plantation, AI driven devices and other emerging technologies in agriculture and allied sectors. Focus of mela will also be on Startup and Tech-show, medicinal and aromatic plant show, processed products show, mushroom show, industry exhibition, brand bizz fest, KVK excellence show, organic and natural farming product exhibition, HADP fruit show, Agri art and craft show, vegetable show, pet and animal show, flower show, food fest, seed show, smart infra show, children’s amusement fest and mega Farmer-Scientist interaction.
