Indian Army Chief General Manoj Pande on Saturday visited the newly established Command Hospital in Udhampur along with esteemed Army dignitaries and local officials.

“Spanning over 60 acres, the Command Hospital stands as a beacon of advanced healthcare, boasting a capacity of 650 beds, expandable to 850 beds during emergencies. Among its notable features are eight cutting-edge operation theatres, a sophisticated medical gas pipeline system, a state-of-the-art fire-fighting mechanism, and a central air conditioning system, ensuring optimal patient care and safety standards,” as per a press release.

Aligned with the Government of India’s environmental initiatives, the hospital incorporates eco-friendly practices, including an effluent treatment plant and central sewage treatment facility, underscoring its commitment to sustainable operations and responsible water management.

“In addition to its medical significance, the Command Hospital serves as an engine for local economic development, offering employment opportunities to over 320 medical practitioners and support staff from the surrounding local areas. This initiative not only addresses the demand for skilled healthcare professionals but also catalyzes growth across various sectors, fostering economic resilience and prosperity,” the release stated.

Furthermore, the Hospital’s partnership with educational institutions underscores its dedication to skill development and the “Skill India” initiative, ensuring continuous learning and advancement for medical practitioners. Through collaborative efforts, the Command Hospital aims to cultivate a robust healthcare workforce and contribute to the overall development of the region.

“Beyond its primary function as a medical facility, the Command Hospital envisages a holistic approach to community engagement, actively involving residents in health awareness programs and initiatives. By fostering strong partnership with the community, the Hospital seeks to promote health literacy and well-being, thereby enriching the lives of individuals and families across Udhampur,” the release said.

The virtual inauguration of the Command Hospital, was done by the COAS on April 10, 2024, heralded a new era of healthcare excellence in Udhampur, symbolizing a convergence of innovation, compassion, and community empowerment. As it embarks on its journey, the hospital remains steadfast in its commitment to serve with dedication and distinction, ensuring the health and well-being of all its beneficiaries. (ANI)
