Anantnag, May 19: The Department of Biotechnology of Shaheed Himayun Muzamil Memorial Government Degree College (GDC) Anantnag under the patronage of Principal, Prof. Muzafar Ahmad Bhat on Sunday organised an extension lecture here.
Assistant Professor Microbiology, Centre of Research and Development (CORD) University of Kashmir, Dr Zaffar Bashir was the guest speaker on the occasion. He deliberated on the theme ‘Microbial Biotechnology’.
Dr Zaffar provided a comprehensive overview of microbial biotechnology emphasising the critical role microbes play in various biotechnology processes.
The lecture showcased the cutting-edge application of microbes in health, agriculture and environmental sustainability. It was attended by more than 100 participants including faculty members and students from different departments.
The deliberation was followed by an interactive question-answer session where students asked thought-provoking questions that were well addressed by the speaker.
On the occasion, the head of the Department of Biotechnology, Dr Nazia Khursheed highlighted the need for such lectures to foster knowledge and innovations in the field of microbial biotechnology.
