Ganderbal, Oct 17: In an ongoing effort to combat the rampant issue of drug abuse in the region, Ganderbal Police, under the directions of SSP Nikhil Borkar-IPS, continues its relentless pursuit of eradicating the menace. Over the past few days, the police have arrested four individuals involved in drug peddling, seizing contraband substances from their possession.
On one occasion, a police party led by I/C PP Shadipora, supervised by Dy.SP Hqr’s Ganderbal, apprehended a person at Satkreeri Chowk during a checkpoint operation. A search revealed the possession of 20 bottles of Codeine Phosphate, a contraband substance, leading to the arrest of Hilal Ahmad Ganie S/O Gh Mohidin Ganie a resident of Wakura Ganderbal.
In another swift action, a special police team led by SHO PS Ganderbal reached a house, where approximately 5 kg of crushed cannabis (Bang Patri) was seized, and the owner, identified as Noor Mohd Ganai S/O Gh Nabi a resident of Rakh Haran Ganderbal, was arrested.
In a separate incident, a special police team led by SHO PS Lar discovered 9 bottles of Codeine Phosphate and 120 Etizolam Tablets in the possession of Tayib Feroze Bhat son of Feroze Ahmad R/O Qasba Lar. All these cases have been registered, and investigations are underway.
The public has lauded Ganderbal Police for its commitment to eradicating the drug menace. The police encourage the general public to refrain from cultivating contraband substances in their fields to protect the younger generation from drug abuse.
In a recent operation at Asham-Safapora crossing, a motorcyclist attempted to flee but was apprehended by the timely action of the police. Yasir Hassan Parray was found in possession of Contraband Substance (Charas Lathi type). The substance was seized, and Yasir Hassan Parray S/O Gh Hassan R/O Parray Mohalla Asham Bandipora was arrested.
Police have also registered FIR’s against these drug peddlers.
Ganderbal Police is dedicated to eliminating the drug menace from the district, and they urge the public to cooperate by sharing information about drug peddlers, enabling effective curbing of this issue and safeguarding the future generation.
