Ganderbal, Oct 05: Farmers in Ganderbal’s Batwina area, famous for growing a variety of fruits, particularly apples, are currently busy collecting this year’s yield.
In addition to Batwina, other areas in the Ganderbal district, including Wussan, Gund, Rayil, and others, are also experiencing a busy apple harvest season. Local farmers are reporting positive results, with many expressing satisfaction with the quality and quantity of this year’s crop.
“The production this year has been good, and the demand in the market is strong,” said Mohammad Haneef, a farmer from Ganderbal. “Our apples are not only selling well within the Kashmir Valley but also being shipped to other states across India, where demand is equally high.”
The apple industry is considered the backbone of Kashmir’s economy, providing livelihoods to thousands of farmers engaged in agriculture and horticulture across the region. Farmers in Ganderbal, like their counterparts in other districts, have put in significant effort throughout the year to ensure a good harvest.
“When the apple harvest season begins, the market demand rises, and we see the fruits of our hard work,” said Lateef Ahmad, another local farmer. “I have supported my family through apple farming, and after a year of dedicated effort, I am hopeful that this season will bring a bumper crop.”
Many farmers in the region cultivate different varieties of apples, which are highly sought after both locally and in other parts of India. The season’s early signs suggest a promising year for Ganderbal’s apple growers, as they continue to work diligently, aiming for a successful harvest.
