Srinagar, Oct 21: The Jammu and Kashmir Police along with security forces on Friday claimed to have apprehended a Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist and recovered two hand grenades from his possession.
DSP Police Headquarters Bandipora, Shafaat Ahmad told Rising Kashmir that in a joint operation, security forces have arrested a terrorist along with two grenades in Zalwan Nursary area of Bandipora.
The arrested terrorist has been identified as Shahid Hussain Bhat son of Ghulam Hassan Bhat resident of Plan Bandipora. DSP Shafaat said on his disclosure two hand grenades were recovered which he had kept in paddy fields nearby area.
A police spokesman said Bandipora police along with 14 RR and 3rd Bn CRPF launched a joint CASO in the area. During the search one locally trained terrorist of LeT was apprehended.
“The arrested terrorist was in touch with a terrorist of LeT in PoK and was given the task to target police, security forces in Bandipora. He was also given the task by his handlers across the border to mobilise the youth in Bandipora for recruiting them in banned terrorist organization LeT,” he said.
Meanwhile, in this connection Case FIR No. 168/2022 was registered in PS Bandipora and further investigation has been taken up.
