Srinagar, Oct 6: Friday following Eid e Milad un Nabi (SAW) was observed across Kashmir valley with religious reverence and fervour.
Devotees gathered at shrines, mosques, and other religious places to observe the Friday following birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) with religious reverence and fervor. The occasion followed Eid e Milad un Nabi (SAW) and saw a significant turnout as worshippers came together for Friday congregational prayers.
Since the early morning (Fajar) prayers, mosques, shrines and other religious places reverberated with recitation of holy Quran, Durood Khwani and sermons. Friday sermons were delivered by religious clerics and scholars at major religious gatherings across the valley.
The largest congregational prayer was held at Dargah Hazratbal shrine in Srinagar which houses the holy relic of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). According to the Waqaf officials, more than 50,000 devotees offered prayers on the occasion at Hazratbal shrine.
Thousands of devotees, including men women and children, could be seen flocking and gathering at Hazratbal shrine to participate in the Friday prayers and catch a glimpse of the holy relic . The holy relic of the Prophet (SAW) was displayed at the shrine after congregational prayers.
On the occasion, adequate arrangements were put in place by the J&K Waqf board in coordination with the traffic department to facilitate the devotees participating in prayers and religious gatherings.
The city traffic department had made transport available at several places across the city to ferry the devotees to and fro from Hazratbal shrine and other major religious places while a specific route plan was devised for smooth facilitation of devotees.
The officials at the city traffic department revealed that SRTC buses were also deployed at entry points and city center Lal Chowk for devotees coming from other districts of the valley.
“Adequate transport facilities were deployed for a hassle free movement of the devotees. Moreover, parking arrangements were also specified in the Hazratbal area,” an official at the city traffic department said.
Friday congregational prayers were also held at other shrines in the city which included Ziarat-e-Makhdoom Sahib (RA) Khanqah-e-Mualla (RA) Ziarat Dastgeer sahib (RA), Asar-e-Sharif Shehri Kalashpora, Masjid Jamiat-e-Ahle Hadith, Gawkadal, Asar-e-Sharif, Janab Sahib Soura .
