Qazigund, Sept 22: Four persons were killed and several others left injured in a tragic road accident that occurred along the Jammu-Srinagar highway in Kulgam district on Friday.
The injured include three members of the same family. Officials said that the mishap occurred at the Levdoura area of Qazigund.
An official said that a vehicle bearing registration number JK06B 0901, en route from Srinagar, collided with a truck near the Walnut factory in Qazigund. The impact resulted in severe injuries to all seven passengers traveling in the Echo vehicle.
The injured were immediately rushed to the Emergency Hospital in Qazigund for medical attention.
A health official told Rising Kashmir that, unfortunately, four individuals succumbed to their injuries, while three others are currently receiving treatment.
“Two of the injured are in stable condition, and one is under observation,” the official added.
The deceased have been identified as Nawaz Ahmed Bhat, son of Ghulam Qadir; Mubeena Begum, wife of Nawaz Ahmad; Maroof Ahmed Bhat, son of Nawaz Ahmad Bhat; and Absha Banoo. All were residents of Doda.
The injured persons have been identified as Ghulam Qadir, son of Mohammad Abdullah; Mehvish Akhtar, daughter of Mohd Nawaz; and Mumtaz Ahmad, son of Ghulam Qadir, all hailing from Doda.
Meanwhile, authorities at the Qazigund Police Station have registered a case under FIR number 206/23, citing sections 279 and 337 of the IPC. Further investigations into the incident are currently underway,” an official added.
