Acting tough against social crimes”Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday arrested four gamblers and recovered stake money in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
A Police spokesperson said that continuing its drive against social crimes, kulgam police acting swiftly upon a specific information generated from reliable sources regarding Gambling in the juridiction of Police Post Mirbazar, A Police party headed by IC PP Mirbazar raided a suspected gambling site at Furrah and apprehended following gamblers.
They have been identified as Shahnawaz Ahmad Lone S/O Bashir Ahmad Lone R/O Malpora, Javed Ahmad Mir S/O Mohd Amin Mir R/O Furrah, Nisar Ahmad Khanday S/O Ghulam Ahmad Khanday R/O Zadoora and Imtiyaz Ahmad Wani S/O Abdul Aziz Wani R/O Zadoora.
“From the spot stake money of Rs 46000, 04 mobile phones and a set of playing cards were recovered”, he said.
The spokesperson said that taking cognizance of the matter all the gamblers have been booked and regarding the incident a case with FIR No. 93/2023 U/S 13 of Gambling Act has been registered in Police station Qazigund and investigation has been taken up.
People of the area have appreciated the role of police for being prompt against such social evils. Persons found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt strictly as per law. Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding anti-social activity in their vicinity.
