First-time voters in Rajouri cast ballots for peace & dev

Srinagar, Apr 26:
In the second phase of the LokSabha elections on Friday, voters in Rajouri demonstrated their enthusiasm and commitment to democracy. While elderly voters embraced the polling stations with zeal, young first-time voters cast their ballots with a vision for growth and development.
Early in the morning, queues formed outside polling stations in Sunderbani-Kalakote AC of 5-Jammu PC, reflecting the eagerness of voters to participate in the electoral process. Notably, 103-year-old Dhanni Ram cast his vote at ChanniPrat PS, setting an inspiring example of civic duty.
Minakshi Sharma, a first-time voter from PratSunderbani of Kalakote-Sunderbani AC, urged her peers to join her in shaping the future of the constituency and the nation. “I appeal to all the youth of my age group to cast their vote for the growth and development of the constituency and country,” she said.
Kritika, another first-time voter, expressed her joy at participating in the democratic process. “I am super happy that I cast my vote today. I was waiting to cross 18 plus for a long time to cast my vote. Thankfully today I cast my first vote,” she exclaimed.
The participation of first-time voters like Kritika underscores the sense of responsibility felt towards their community and country. “Being a first-time voter, I feel a sense of responsibility towards my village, my district, and my country,” she affirmed.
Women voters, too, showed their democratic spirit by eagerly waiting in long queues to cast their votes in Sunderbani of Kalakote-Sunderbani AC. Additionally, individuals with disabilities (PWDs) actively participated in the democratic process, choosing to cast their votes at polling stations despite being offered home voting options.
In HS Patrara-121, many enthusiastic youth managed Polling Stations themselves, demonstrating their patriotic fervor and commitment to ensuring a smooth electoral process.
Reflecting on the pressing issues facing the region, voters expressed concerns about rising unemployment among educated youth, the need for better infrastructure, and access to basic amenities. They emphasized the importance of electing representatives who would address these issues in the parliament.
Officials ensured smooth conduct of the LS elections, with polling commencing at 7 a.m. and concluding at 6 p.m. Adequate arrangements were put in place by the District Administration to facilitate the voting process and uphold the integrity of the electoral system.
