JAMMU, June 29: A group of 4,029 Amarnathyatris commenced their journey from the Base Camp at Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu, heading towards the Pahalgam and Baltal routes of the sacred pilgrimage.
The pilgrims departed from Jammu to Kashmir early this morning in a convoy of 200 vehicles, comprising both Light Motor Vehicles and heavy vehicles, under stringent security arrangements.
According to official records, 1,610 men and 332 women will undertake the yatra from Pahalgam, while 1,265 men and 448 women will embark on the holy pilgrimage via the Baltal route.
In addition, 144 sadhus and 31 sadhvis also left from Jammu, scheduled to commence their pilgrimage tomorrow.
The AmarnathYatra was inaugurated on Friday morning by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu. During the flag-off ceremony, the atmosphere was reverent and spiritual, resonating with enthusiastic devotees from across the country chanting religious slogans such as ‘Bham-BhamBhole’ and ‘Baba Barfaniki Jai ho’, and dancing to bhajans in praise of Lord Shiva.
The yatris were in high spirits, chanting religious hymns like ‘BhamBhamBhole’, ‘Baba Barfaniki Jai’, and ‘Jai Bholenath’.
The first batch of Amarnathyatris was flagged off by the LG around 5:30 am from YatriNiwas, Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu.
Yesterday, a total of 4,603 pilgrims departed from Jammu to embark on the holy AmarnathYatra via both traditional routes, Pahalgam and Baltal.
