Srinagar, May 14: Two residential houses were damaged in a blaze while three persons sustained injuries while dousing the flames in Guru Bazar area of Srinagar on Wednesday.
According to the Fire and Emergency Services Department, the emergency call was received at 4:17 pm. Responding swiftly, the first firefighting units were on the scene within a few minutes. Initially, four engines were dispatched from the central headquarters, with three more arriving later from the Habba Kadal fire station as the situation escalated a bit.
The blaze spread quickly through the closely packed residential structures, posing a serious threat to nearby homes and shops. However, coordinated efforts by the fire personnel helped contain the flames and prevent a larger disaster. The firefighting and rescue operation was conducted jointly by the Fire and Emergency Services, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and local volunteers. Their combined response ensured timely evacuation, effective crowd management, and containment of the fire.
While two houses suffered extensive damage, a third structure sustained partial damage. Three persons sustained minor injuries while dousing the fire. The cause of the fire remains unknown. Officials have said a formal investigation has been launched to determine the actual cause of the blaze.
