Srinagar, Nov 25: Faheem Zahoor, a Class 8 student from Hilltop Educational Institute Ganderbal, has achieved remarkable success in Pencak Silat. He won a gold medal in the national championship held at the Sher-e-Kashmir Indoor Stadium, Srinagar.
In another event, the 2nd All India Pencak Silat Championship, also hosted at the same venue, Faheem secured another gold medal. His outstanding performance has earned him a spot in the international championships.
Talking to media, Faheem credited his family for being his biggest support system, especially his brother, Ashiq Zahoor, who played a key role in encouraging him throughout his journey.
“My family has always stood by me, but my brother Ashiq’s constant motivation has been a major driving force. He believed in me even when I doubted myself,” Faheem said.
Faheem’s success was made possible through the unwavering support of his mentors and event organizers. Coach Murtaza Bhat played a pivotal role in preparing him for the championships, while Nasir Diggo, President of the Pencak Silat Association, provided guidance and support to foster the sport’s growth.
Event Manager Iqbal Sir and Sports Incharge Gazala Ma’am were also instrumental in organizing the events and encouraging young athletes like Faheem to perform at their best.
Principal Hill Top Educational Institute said that “Faheem’s accomplishments are a source of inspiration for all our students. His success reflects his dedication and the importance of hard work and perseverance.”
Zahoor Ahmad, Faheem’s father said that winning six national medals, including these two golds, is a phenomenal achievement. His determination and the guidance of his coaches have brought this success to our family and community.
With six national medals now to his name, he has set his sights on international competitions, where he aims to represent the country and continue his journey of excellence.
Meanwhile on behalf of the Organizing Committee, Indian Pencak Silat Federation, and the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all stakeholders for their invaluable contributions to the successful conclusion of the 12th National Pencak Silat Championship for Pre Teen , Sub Junior and Junior, Boys and girls as well as 2nd All India Pencak Silat Championship 2024.
