Srinagar, May 17: The Department of Youth Services and Sports Ganderbal, Saturday concluded the Inter-Zone District Level Volleyball competition for U-17 Boys and Girls, alongside a series of Inter-School Zonal level tournaments held across various zones of the district. The initiative aims to promote a vibrant sporting culture and encourage students to adopt games and physical activity as an integral part of their daily lives.
Volleyball Competitions Witness Enthusiastic Participation at GCOPE Gadoora. The marquee Volleyball tournament for Boys and Girls under 17 years was held at Government College of Physical Education, Gadoora Ganderbal, where all four zones of the district fielded their top teams. DYSSO Ganderbal, Sheikh Shafqat Iqbal, graced the occasion and interacted with the budding athletes. In his address, he motivated the students to remain focused on healthy activities like sports and steer clear of harmful habits such as substance abuse. He also assured the students of the department’s full support in providing sports gear, including uniforms and shoes.
In a thrilling display of teamwork and skill, Zone Ganderbal emerged as champions in the Boys U-17 category, defeating Zone Tullamulla, who finished as runners-up. In the Girls U-17 category, Zone Tullamulla lifted the championship trophy by overcoming Zone Hariganiwan in the finals. The winning and runner-up teams were felicitated by senior departmental officials, and standout performers were shortlisted for the upcoming Provincial level competitions.In addition to the Volleyball competition, all zones organized Inter-School Zonal level events to ensure widespread engagement.
