In a significant operation aimed at curbing illegal distillation activities, the Excise Department today conducted raids on three brick kilns in the Chattergam and Dooniwara areas of Tehsil B.K. Pora, District Budgam.

Acting on the directions of the Excise Commissioner, Pankaj Kumar Sharma (JKAS), and under the supervision of Deputy Excise Commissioner Executive Kashmir, Ms. Tazayun Mukhtar (JKAS), along with the Excise & Taxation Officer Central Kashmir, the officials of the Excise Range Central Kashmir carried out the raids.

During the operation, the team recovered 15 liters of Lahan, an illegal alcohol precursor, near one of the brick kilns. The seized Lahan was destroyed on the spot.

The owners of the brick kilns were warned about the severe legal consequences of engaging in illicit distillation activities.

In a further effort to combat the issue, the senior citizens of the locality were sensitized to the social and health risks associated with illicit liquor. They were encouraged to report any such illegal activities to the Excise Department immediately.

This operation underscores the Excise Department’s commitment to eradicating illegal alcohol production and protecting the public from the dangers associated with it.
