Srinagar, Sep 2: Former Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) Yasir Reshi, who recently left the People’s Conference, has joined the Awami Itehaad Party (AIP) in Srinagar. Shortly after joining, Reshi was nominated as the party’s candidate for the Sonawari constituency in Bandipora. Along with Reshi, Naseer Ahmad Rather and Advocate Raja Ashraf Ali Khan have also joined the AIP.
The Awami Itihaad Party (AIP), led by its supremo Er. Rasheed has released a new list of candidates for the upcoming Assembly Elections in Jammu and Kashmir. The list, approved for publication by the party’s political affairs committee, headed by Ishtiyaq Qadri, includes ten candidates representing various constituencies across the region.
The candidates are as follows: Ishtiyaq Qadri for Habakadal, Mohammad Maqbool Beigh for Hazratbal, Sheikh Aashiq for Ganderbal, Adv. Javed Hubi for Charar I Sharief, Adv. Raja Ashraf for Kangan, Shoib Lone for Baramulla, Prince Parvez for Bandipora, Yasir Reshi for Sonawari, Naseer Ahmad Rather for Wagoora Keeri, and Adv. Dawood Ahmad for Lolab.
The party’s General Secretary, Prince Parvez, confirmed in a statement that these candidates have been carefully selected to represent the AIP’s commitment to addressing the needs and aspirations of the people in their respective constituencies.
It is noteworthy that the party has welcomed several prominent figures in recent days, with reports suggesting that more individuals are expected to join soon.
Jammu and Kashmir are scheduled to hold assembly elections beginning on September 18, with the first phase of voting. The second and third phases are set for September 25 and October 1, respectively.
Following Er. Rashid’s big victory in the Lok Sabha elections, the AIP has gained widespread public support. Rashid, who is incarcerated these days, won a high-profile victory over former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and JK People’s Conference Chief Sajad Gani Lone.
The party earlier announced that it would contest in the highest number of seats across Union Territory and said it would be a contender on all 44-seats-fortress, which compromises Kashmir Valley. Over the next few more days we will see how many seats AIP takes over.
