Baramulla, Nov 20: Chairperson of the District Development Council (DDC) Baramulla, Safina Beigh, chaired a review meeting on Wednesday with DDC members and officers at Dak Bungalow to assess ongoing developmental works in the district for the financial year 2024-25.
The meeting was attended by all DDC members, Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Baramulla Syed Qamar Sajad, Block Development Officers, and officers from R&B, RDD, PDD and other departments.
At the outset, the ADDC presented a detailed report on the physical and financial progress achieved under various sectors in the district during the current financial year.
It was informed that under the ongoing works for FY 2024-25, 79 out of 112 projects approved under PRI, BDC, and DDC categories have been completed, with an expenditure of Rs 1.4 crore. Similarly, under new works for the financial year, 1,877 projects were approved under ADP (PRI/BDC/DDC). Of these, 1,710 works have been tendered, and 1,230 have been allotted, with a total allocated budget of Rs 31.4 crore.
The chairperson conducted a comprehensive block-wise review of the projects under the Area Development Plan (ADP), including those approved under PRI, BDC, and DDC categories. The review focused on assessing project progress, identifying challenges, and evaluating implementation and completion timelines.
Safina Beigh also reviewed works undertaken by R&B and other departments under District Capex, ABDP, DDC, and BDC. She directed the concerned officers to ensure that all allocated works are completed within the target deadlines.
During the meeting, Safina Beigh instructed authorities to take strict action against contractors responsible for delays, including blacklisting them. She further directed re-tendering of stalled projects to expedite their completion without further obstruction.
The DDC chairperson stressed the importance of meeting targets and ensuring 100% utilization of funds to avoid lapses. She urged all officers to maintain transparency and accountability in the execution of developmental works.
Safina Beigh called for preventing procedural delays and ensuring the effective utilisation of allocated funds, reiterating the commitment to fostering equitable development across the district.
