Ganderbal, Aug 01: Dumping Park, located in Kangan in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, has become a popular and breath-taking destination for local tourists, thanks to its charming beauty and impeccable cleanliness. Tourists visiting nearby attractions such as Sonamarg, Naranag, and Manasbal are now making sure to take a rest at this picturesque park.
Spanning approximately 0.30 hectares, the Sindh view environment park, commonly known as Dumping Park, was constructed by the Department of Environment and Remote Sensing J&K back in 2010. One of the park’s distinctive features is the strict attention to cleanliness, with employees of the relevant department always present to maintain the park’s pristine condition.
Perched on the heights of Kijpora, the park offers breathtaking views of the entire Kangan area, making it a compelling attraction for tourists seeking natural beauty. Local visitors have been raving about the park, expressing their preference for it over other parks due to its clean river water, fresh air, lush greenery, and comfortable seating arrangements.
“The Sindh view environment park offers a majestic view of the area. The landscaping is quite impressive, and the environment is very soothing. It’s the perfect place for a family day out, with beautiful and charming scenes visible from every corner,” one tourist shared with Rising Kashmir.
However, despite the government’s efforts in providing facilities, some concerns have been raised by locals regarding the lack of proper street-lighting in the park. Reportedly, the park’s street-lights have been out of order since 2016, causing inconvenience to tourists and shopkeepers who find it difficult to walk around during evening hours.
Speaking about the issue, a concerned local said, “We appreciate the efforts of the concerned department in maintaining this beautiful park, but the non-functional street-lights have become a significant problem. It’s high time the authorities address this matter and restore the street-lights at the earliest.”
The appeal to the concerned department has gained attention, with locals hoping for prompt action to enhance the park’s safety and accessibility during nighttime hours.
Dumping Park remains a gem in the heart of Ganderbal, inviting tourists to immerse themselves in its charming beauty and tranquillity. As the authorities work towards restoring the street-lights, visitors and locals alike look forward to enjoying this captivating destination without any hindrance.
