Kulgam, Jan 15: Jammu and Kashmir police attached property acquired illegally by an alleged notorious drug peddler in Kulgam.
According to a police spokesperson, Kulgam Police, in its proactive efforts to curb the menace of drug peddling, seized a double-storey residential house.
The residential house, measuring 625 sq. ft, belongs to a notorious drug peddler identified as Mashooq Ahmad Sheikh, son of Ghulam Qadir Sheikh, a resident of Khudwani Qaimoh, Kulgam.
The police invoked Section 68-F(2) of the NDPS Act, 1985, in this case. The property was identified as illegally acquired during the investigation/enquiry conducted by Kulgam police. It was found to be prima facie acquired from illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances by the owner.
“Pertinently, the said drug peddler is involved in Case FIR number 66/2023 of Police Station Qaimoh,” the spokesperson said.
He further added that this action reaffirms the commitment of Kulgam Police to combat the drug menace.
