Dr Showkat Hussain Tali from GMC Anantang honoured at NEOCON 2023

Anantnag, Nov 25: Dr Showkat Hussain Tali, a renowned paediatrician and neonatologist from Government Medical College Anantnag, has been honoured with special recognition at the prestigious National Neonatology Forum (NNF) Conference – NEOCON 2023.
Hailing from Kulgam’s Frisal village, Dr Teli earlier received this year’s global icon award in healthcare excellence – neonatologist of the year 2023.
NEOCON is the largest annual national conference of neonatologists, attracting speakers and participants from around the globe. This year, NEOCON 2023 is taking place in Nagpur, Maharashtra, and Dr Tali was invited to accept the appreciation in the inaugural session in the presence of union ministers of the parliament. This recognition was bestowed upon him for his outstanding leadership as the chief organizing secretary of North Zone Neocon 2023, which was successfully held in SKICC Srinagar in the month of June.
Dr Tali expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the National Neonatology Forum for this exceptional honor, He attributed the entire merit of this appreciation to Bupender Kumar, Secretary, Health and Medical Education, and Prof. Dr Tariq Syed Qureshi, former Principal of GMC Anantnag.
“The remarkable accomplishment would not have been possible without their unwavering support and encouragement. I accepted the award in absentia as the dates for the National Board inspection for initiating a PG course at GMC Anantnag coincided with the conference dates,” he said.
Dr Tali serves as an associate professor and head of the Department of Pediatrics at GMC Anantnag. He holds the distinction of being the first National Board-certified neonatologist from the UT of Jammu and Kashmir.
Notably, North Zone Neocon 2023, held in SKICC Srinagar in the month of June, was spearheaded by Dr Showkat Hussain Tali as the chief organizing secretary. The conference was graced by R R Bhatnagar, Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor, as the chief guest. North Zone Neocon was the first of its kind to be held in J&K in the last sixty-five years since the establishment of the first medical college in the erstwhile state and was widely regarded as one of the most successful conferences of its kind in the country.
