Srinagar, Dec 12: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference president, Dr Farooq Abdullah on Thursday paid tributes to Maulana Masoodi on his anniversary, hailing him as an unforgettable figure in Kashmir’s political struggle against autocracy.
Dr Farooq in a statement emphasised Masoodi’s remarkable 30-year tenure as the General Secretary of the party, highlighting his numerous qualities and spiritual inclination. He praised his significant contribution to the socio-political liberation of Kashmir, noting his rare ability to seamlessly blend social service, simplicity and politics.
“Kashmir’s iconic state anthem owes its existence to this remarkable individual. We must uphold and fortify the ideals that were nurtured by extraordinary individuals like Maulana Masoodi,” he said.
The NC chief also paid tributes to Sofi Muhammad Akbar on his anniversary. He commended Akbar for his “unwavering commitment to safeguarding the interests of the people against external threats to the state’s special status”. “His selfless sacrifices for Kashmir and enduring association with Sher-e-Kashmir were acknowledged with reverence,” he said.
