Srinagar, Dec 14: In a joint effort, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Srinagar and the Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (IMHANS) Kashmir on Thursday organised a one-day camp to raise awareness about geriatric mental health at Ahata Waqar Chanapora in the Srinagar district.
The camp was conducted under the guidance of Chairman DLSA Srinagar, Jawad Ahmed.
Dr. Junaid Nabi, an Associate Professor at IMHANS Kashmir, took the lead in providing valuable insights into geriatric mental health issues, symptoms, and strategies for management.
He shared practical advice on how to stay active and engaged during the winter season, recognizing the unique challenges that seniors face during colder months.
The Secretary of DLSA Srinagar emphasized the crucial role of Legal Service Authorities in protecting and promoting the rights of senior citizens, with a particular focus on their health rights.
Syed Mujtaba, a mental health advocate, highlighted the importance of mental well-being and the available services for geriatric mental health care.
The event served as a platform to bridge the gap between mental health awareness and legal advocacy for the elderly, reaffirming the commitment of DLSA Srinagar and IMHANS Kashmir to the overall well-being of our senior citizens.
