Div Com calls for transparent, honest, humane spirit and approach for reaching out to orphans, widows

Srinagar, Oct 16: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir P.K Pole on Sunday said that there is an urgent need to augment social service activities in different sectors for the comfort, relief and rehabilitation of orphans, widows and economically weaker sections in the UT of Jammu &Kashmir. This was stated by him while presiding over the educational scholarship cheque distribution function organized by J&K Yateem Foundation at Sri Pratap College here.
J&K Yateem Foundation (JKYF) distributed first installmentf education scholarship cheques amounting to Rs 9 Lakh among 150 students including 80 girls and 2 non muslim students. These students belonged to all districts of Kashmir division. 
Divisional Commissioner called upon the gathering to mobilize latent human capabilities, talent and capacities for the welfare, ease of living and rehabilitation of most deserving and economically weaker sections of the society. 
 
Praising JKYF’s initiative to work irrespective of caste, color, creed, region and religion, Mr Pole enjoined upon all voluntary and non governmental organizations to ensure honesty, transparency and accountability in the working of organizational work.
 
He said that the social work must remain transparent and voluntary organizations must be registered and should transfer financial assistance into bank accounts of beneficiaries. He added that the organizations need to come up with audited account of donations and expenditure to generate confidence and trust among common people particularly donors and contributors to the social service cause. He asked all other social service organizations to emulate the systematic, structured, transparent and democratic style of working of J&K Yateem Foundation.
 
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Manzoor Ahmad Shah, Director Directorate of Internal Quality Assurance (DIQA), said that such initiatives are needed on top priority to facilitate meritorious deserving students to achieve excellent academic and professional careers.
 
Principal SP College Prof. Khurshid Ahmad Khan  while complimenting JKYF for its commendable work in social service sector called upon students to benefit from the support extended by JKYF for better careers. He said he would facilitate such initiatives in future also. 
Earlier, founder chairman and member Permanent Accountability Commission, JKYF Mohammad Ahsan Rather presented detailed account of various welfare and rehabilitation programmes of JKYF
 
Dr. Tariq Ahmad Malik, member Permanent Accountability Commission, JKYF talked about the history of JKYF.
 
The parents of the students and scores of JKYF volunteers, district representatives, central executive committee members, programme executives besides cross section of people participated in the function.  
 
Chairman JKYF Mohammad Rafiq Lone presented vote of thanks. He enjoined upon students to work hard with dedication, commitment, zeal and zest to excel in academic and professional careers. He complimented students from GujranTulail near LoC in Bandipora and Machil in Kupwara for traveling from such far flung areas to participate in the event.
 
Baitul Hilal Jawahar Nagar Srinagar students Wasim Ahmad Lone and Mauzim Mushtaq recited verses from Holy Quran and Naat respectively.  
 
Senior volunteer Mohammad Yousuf Bhat prayed for the well being of the students, society and the organization.
 
Programme Executive, Press & PR Division JKYF, Mr Javaid Jawad conducted the proceedings.
