Director Sericulture undertakes surprise inspection of various offices, mulberry nurseries, farms

Anantnag, Feb 15: Ajaz Ahmad Bhat (IAS), Director Sericulture J&K, on Thursday conducted a surprise visit to various offices, mulberry nurseries, and farms in South Kashmir. The surprise inspection was aimed at ensuring the efficiency and optimal functioning of the department, focusing on key aspects such as employee attendance, office infrastructure, and the overall maintenance of departmental assets.
During the surprise visit, the Director Sericulture J&K while checking the attendance of employees, emphasized the importance of punctuality and dedication of employees towards their official duties, besides, the need of consorted efforts for dissemination of awareness about various sericulture activities, Schemes, facilities and other sericulture practices among farmers and youth of J&K. He also inspected office buildings, mulberry nurseries, and farms to assess the condition of the facilities and identify areas for improvement. He also directed the officers to complete all the developmental projects well in time and work on mission mode to achieve all the targets envisioned in Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP). Besides, directed them to share their technical expertise among the silkworm rearing community and youth in the Skill Development Training Programmes started by the department under capacity building initiative. 
The Director exhorted upon the officers and the field functionaries/ officials of the department to work in a coordinated manner with silkworm rearers and youth to assist them in enhancing their income generation through silkworm rearing and other associated activities vis-à-vis sericulture sector. He also stressed upon the officers and employees to adopt a proactive approach and will not leave any stone unturned for achieving bumper and double crop in the upcoming rearing season. Further he stressed on the need to involve more farmers and youth with sericulture and silkworm rearing practices for which the contact numbers of nearest Tehsil/ District/ Divisional/ UT offices of the department have already been published through Print, electronic and social media. During his visit to different farms and nurseries he informed silkworm rearers that the department continues to facilitate them with financial assistance for construction of Rearing Sheds and in order to safeguard their crop from different diseases the department distributes disinfectants and for silkworm rearing the department also provides rearing kits to the Silkworm Rearers. Moreover, he also stressed that the department is embarked on the path of expansion of sericulture activities in J&K and strives to establish more Mulberry Farms and Nurseries across J&K.       
Speaking on the occasion the Director informed that any liability on account of incentives provided to silkworm rearers/ farmers by the department will be cleared shortly. Moreover, the Director retreated his commitment to foster exceptional growth in sericulture sector in J&K, so that the silkworm rearing communities living in the far-flung areas across J&K will thrive and prosper leaps and bounds.
