Srinagar, Aug 02: Director JKEDI Rajinder Kumar Sharma on Friday highlighted the role of events like Swachhata Pakhwada in making a positive impact on the environment. He said such plantation drives were a testament to JKEDI’s efforts towards promoting greener J&K.
In view of the Swachhata Pakhwada, pledges followed by plantation drives were held at the Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) and its district centres. The Director called on the employees to take the initiative in keeping their surroundings clean and promoting the plantation.
The fortnight-long Swachhata Pakhwada-2024 commenced on August 01 and aims to reinforce the principles of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan while involving local communities in environmental conservation and instilling a sense of responsibility. The pledge and the plantation drive at JKEDI were a part of this initiative of the Government of J&K with a commitment to promote cleanliness and create environmental awareness across the UT.
The initiative marked a significant step in JKEDI’s commitment to cleanliness and environmental sustainability along with engaging the community for a better J&K. The Swachhata pledge was taken by Sh. Rajinder Kumar Sharma (JKAS), Director JKEDI along with the employees of the institute at its Sempora campus The employees pledged to dedicate 100 hours in a year towards promoting cleanliness and planting trees for a greener tomorrow. The pledge-taking ceremony was followed by a plantation drive where the Director JKEDI along with the employees planted saplings all over the campus.
Since Thursday, the staff of the institute in its district centres has been actively participating in similar events in their respective districts to make their contribution towards the 15-day-long Swachhata campaign.
