Srinagar, Sept 08: The Government of India’s Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises has given its approval for 550 entrepreneurship programs for Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh and these programs will be conducted by SKUAST-Kashmir starting next week, officials said.
Prof. Haroon Rashid Naik, Director Planning and Monitoring SKUAST–Kashmir, who is also Nodal Officer for MSME training, said this is for the second first time that such programs have been approved by the Union Government to train the youth.
The Nodal Officer mentioned that these programs will take place in both Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, with a primary focus on raising awareness among youth about the entrepreneurial opportunities available.
“We will be holding awareness programs on the schemes of animal husbandry, agriculture, fisheries and other allied sectors,” he said. Naik said another program is management development program under which 25 youth would be trained within a week.
“Another such program is a management development program under which the skills of youth are enhanced and executives would train them in different market-oriented skills,” he said.
The Nodal Officer announced another initiative, the Entrepreneurship Skill Development Program, a 40-day training program designed to equip youth with specific trade skills.
Likewise, another notable program, the Advanced Entrepreneurship Skill Development Program, is tailored for graduates. This program focuses on training and equipping them with the necessary skills to successfully initiate and manage their own businesses.
The Nodal Officer said that the SKAUST-K is the nodal agency to conduct training programs which will be started from next week and is expected to see huge participation of the unemployed youth.
“SKUAST-K will be holding the programs and we will collaborate with other institutions, the programs will be held in schools, colleges and panchayats,” he said.
Before the launch of the programs, the SKUAST-K will unveil the program calendar and people will be informed about the programs and other details.
Last year also, the MSME had approved some 66 programs and those programs were conducted successfully in Jammu and Kashmir by the SKUAST-K and J&K’s performance was better in the country.
