DIG RP Range ensures full security for Muharram Majalis & processions

Srinagar, July 25: In preparation for the observance of Muharram, a significant joint virtual meeting was convened by DIG Rajouri-Poonch Range, DrMohdHaseeb Mughal, IPS. The meeting saw the participation of police officers and prominent Shia leaders from Poonch district.
During the meeting, SSP Poonch briefed the chair on the security arrangements already made by the District Police as the Muharram congregations were underway in various parts of the district, with the Shia community observing Muharram.
Heads of various Shia organizations presented the schedule of the programmes in their respective areas. The 8th, 9th, and 10th day of Muharram, falling on July 27, 28 and 29, 2023, were specifically discussed regarding timings, routes, likely gatherings, necessary arrangements, and security deployment at various locations across the Poonch district.
All religious leaders expressed their satisfaction and appreciation for the assistance provided by Poonch Police so far and conveyed their hope for peaceful and successful events, fostering an environment of harmony and brotherhood.
Addressing the participants, DrMohdHaseeb Mughal, IPS DIG R-P Range, assured that all their concerns would be taken seriously and that the required arrangements, particularly security deployments, will be ensured at each venue and Imambaras as per the schedule provided. He emphasized the importance of community leaders engaging their volunteers to closely coordinate with local Police and other security agencies to ensure a peaceful conduct of Muharram with sanctity.
He also stressed the use of torches, lights, and mashaals during night movements and requested adherence to specified main routes only. All necessary security measures will be taken during the deployments.
DIG RP Range instructed district Police officers to conduct coordination meetings with other community leaders and stakeholders to ensure all facilities are provided to mourners during muharram. He emphasized the importance of holding coordination meetings with other security forces and NCA personnel deployed in the area to collectively ensure smooth and peaceful Muharram activities across the RP Range.
Lastly, SSP Poonch extended gratitude to the chair and all participating religious leaders for the constructive discussions and assured them of full cooperation and the best possible security arrangements for a peaceful and harmonious observance of Muharram activities in the district.

Memorial, Asgar Ali Mir, President Pleara, Iftikhar A. Bazmi,Ajaz Mir,Mussarat Ali, Imitaz Ahmed, SayedPagemberRaza, Zeeshan Mir, and SayedNusratHussain Shah, who attended the meeting physically from DPO Poonch.
