SRINAGAR, NOV 18: In a resolute commitment to eradicating terror recruitment, the Director General of Police (DGP) for Jammu and Kashmir, Rashmi Ranjan Swain, has pledged to launch a decisive war against this menace.
Speaking at a public grievance meeting in Srinagar today, DGP Swain said that there is an urgent need for community support to prevent youth from joining terrorist ranks.
“A comprehensive strategy that includes cutting off handlers across borders who incite youth, monitoring and guiding vulnerable youth, and taking stern action against those who support terrorism in any form is a must to root out terror recruitment signals a new era of security and peace in the region,” Swain said.
“We want to ensure that terror recruitment drives in the valley are completely eradicated. If any youth joins terrorist ranks, we will reach out to his parents, teacher, principal, and religious leaders as everyone has a role to play in this fight. With community support, we can save the lives of our youth,” asserted DGP Swain.
In a significant initiative, DGP Swain, an AGMUT 1991 cadre officer, has launched a public outreach program, conducting grievance meetings on the first and third Saturday of every month in Srinagar and on the second and fourth Saturday in Jammu.
The initiative aims to strengthen the connection between the police force and the community.
Responding to a query about the effectiveness of the public grievance meeting, DGP Swain termed it an experiment with a message value. He expressed hope about positive concrete results, assuring that complaints brought forward during these meetings would be promptly addressed and resolved.
Meanwhile, in a strong stand against narco-terrorism, the Director General of Police (DGP) for Jammu and Kashmir, Rashmi Ranjan Swain, said that the property of those involved in the drug trade will be seized. This stern warning comes amidst efforts to curb the flow of illicit substances like heroin and brown sugar across the border. DGP Swain has also asserted that individuals, even within security departments, found involved in the drug trade will face severe consequences.
