Ganderbal, June 17: District Development Council Chairperson (DDC) Ganderbal, Nuzhat Ishfaq on Saturday visited several areas of the district to take stock of various issues and problems being faced by the people.
During her day-long tour, the DDC Chairperson visited Hatbura, Shallabugh, Sehpora, Kachan, Paribal, Chundina and other areas. She interacted with the locals of these areas who put forth their demands and issues of public importance including augmentation of power supply, health facilities, water facility, drainage system, macadamization of roads and cleaning of Irrigation Canals, etc.
Her extensive tour started with a surprise inspection at PHC Kachan and BHS Shallabugh. At Boys High School Shallabugh, she checked the attendance of teachers. Staff position in the Schools, accommodation position, toilet and drinking water facilities, status of books and uniforms available to the students, and school buildings were also reviewed and necessary instructions were given to the concerned officers to mitigate them.
The DDC Chairperson interacted with the students and appealed to them to understand the concepts of a subject rather than mugging up the facts. To bring the government schools at par with private schools in the region, she asked the teacher fraternity to encourage questioning by the students besides focus should be laid on bringing innovations in the learning and teaching process, she added.
Nuzhat also interacted with the patients at PHC Kachan and enquired about the facilities being provided to them. DDC Chairperson directed BMO concerned to provide better facilities to the patients besides minimizing the referral system so the burden at the District Hospital is reduced.
She reviewed the status of the work of shifting of HT line from JNV Hatbura to Gogigund via Chundina through marshy fields and which was a long pending demand in the area. On the occasion, people of the area thanked DDC Chairperson Nuzhat Ishfaq for full filling the long pending demand of the area. She also inspected the proposed site of the bridge at Paribal. On the occasion, the Chairperson said that the bridge has been kept under NABARD as a priority first and will be constructed at an estimated cost of almost 15.5 crores.
At Sephora people raised the issue of correction of land records and macadamization of inner links, drinking water and irrigation facility. She also paid obeisance at the shrine of Hazrat Baba Reshi (RAH) at Chundina where people demand the construction of a shelter shed / additional accommodation for the devotees. Nuzhat assured them that she will take up the issue with the Tourism department.
Enroute from Kachan to Sehpora, the deputations of people at different locations interacted with the Chairperson and apprised her of their demands pertaining to grievances including shifting of transformers, blacktopping of the roads, early restoration of roads, shortage of staff in rural schools, etc.
After giving a patient hearing to the public grievances, she gave on-the-spot directions to the concerned Officers and officials for the early redressal of the problems. She assured of examining all genuine demands and appropriate disposal of the same on priority. Nuzhat Ishfaq was accompanied by various district and sectoral officers.
